    If the money were there? I can't build all the different styles I like into just one car. So sometimes I dream of a building full of Mavericks/Comets done my way;
The paint dab, chalkmark stocker. Of course it would be an early Grabber, heavily optioned and trailered around.
The road racer- I would love to do an early Comet GT complete with an EFI v8, 5 spd, 4 wheel discs, big wheels and all that stuff. And drive the snot out of it.:drive:
The Fastest Street Car car- An early Maverick or Comet would work. A 12:1 427W(along w/a 250 NOS plate), 'braked C4 and 10W tires out back. A really tight, well hidden cage would snake around most of the stock interior. With ET Streets, skinnys on the front and the swaybar MIA, it's not really a street car(none of 'em are much anyway) but hey, it's got a tag and wipers.:burnout:
The sleeper/daily driver- An ultra plainjane early Maverick in either mustard yellow or mint green, with body colored wheels/dogpans. 4 wheel discs, front/rear swaybars and a killer stereo. The driveline would be a 250 w/ the classic inlines aluminum head,EFI and turbo. And a Tremec TKO 500. If the 250 didn't satisfy, then a 300 EFI truck motor w/ turbo should.:yup:
The Mad Max, post apocalypse Maverick- a later 4dr Maverick, w/ custom built crash bars(w/ plenty of driving lights) integrated into the stock crash bumpers, 15x7 black wheels w/ wide rubber all around. It's gotta be a v8, and it's gotta have really dark windows and satin black paint everywhere(no chrome). Drive it on Power Tour and watch cars stay waay away from you.:p
The Beaters- take a crash bumper Maverick or an early Comet, leave all the rust, dents and bad weatherstripping alone and just drive 'em. Oh wait, I've already got those covered..:D
    What would you build?

3-Full on modern car, (302 fuel injection, power windows, seats, A/C, everything I can cram in) (that brown car below)

I have my factory restored one ... If money were no object ...I would graft a Maverick body onto a new 2011 5.0 Mustang.

I would build a corner carving Porsche/Lotus humbling beast of a Mav with an all aluminum stroker V-8/6speed stick. 4 wheel independent suspension, big giant brakes, electronic road sensing shocks/struts a'la Cadillac/vette.(hey its gotta be comfy for road trips!) I think I would paint it all black...no chrome.Red leather interrior etc...I would try and keep it subtle looking/deceptively simple in appearance but the rocker skirts/front air dam may give it away along with the big fat Z rated tires on 18" rims... Ahh to dream the impossible dream...:scratchchin:

Stock, Modern, and Muscle are the three routes I'd go with.....

Stock- complete all original resto of my '73 4dr (one of these days)
Modern- my '71 2dr (ie. 5.0, T5, 4 wheel disc, etc. etc..) (almost there)
Muscle- my '73 yellow/black Grabber with stroked 351w, caged, 9", etc... (it's a basket case now but one of these days )

Call me crazy but i would build a smog legal car :D since everyone says you cant build them for power. But if you look around theres AFR heads that are smog legal. A bunch of cams. And if all else fails STS Sells c.a.r.b. approved turbo kits.

Personally, I would build 'em just like I have planned:

1972 Green Comet GT: Stock Rebuild
1972 Red Comet GT: Modified Daily Driver with upgraded A/C, Sound System, EFI, etc.

I would build old school GASSER style mav/comet with extending the front end 14-18',' straight axle, 57 olds rear end, 4 speed B&M hydro with 8 stack hilborn fuel injection sitting on top a SOHC or DOHC 427 cammer motor as for wheels the only wheel that would look right is a early set of haildbrands 15x4 spindle mounts in front ( yes no brakes .... thats dumb ) 16 x10 ...

I wouldnt build it like i did, thats simple enough, lol.

I would love a orginal color small bumper, dosn't have to be a grabber but would be nice. Era correct wheels, magnums maybe, cragars, ohhh turbine style mags (General Lee style) I had those before and looked nice. With a newer short block alumium heads, 5 spd trans., 9 inch. Modern a/c heat from Vintag air. lowered stance about 2" with 4 link out back and air ride suspension. And just drive it everywhere.

Besides the suspension I see many cars like I described on here that I would love to have. Wish I could start over but got too much money in mine.

Resto Mod my `71 With 18 and 17 inch Halibrand "Cobra"wheels ,4wheel discs, smooth ride, great stereo, lots of creature comforts like very comfy seats, A/C. console with cup holders. Drive train would be a supercharged ,fuel injected D.O.H.C / 03-04 mustang Cobra motor completely stock except for a blower pulley change. AOD or 6 speed manual transmission.

Silver metallic paint with light grey "Ghost" Grabber stripes. Grabber hood cougar tail lights.

Easily yields a High eleven second car that gets 25 mpg and still runs a STOCK engine.

IF I EVER WIN THE LOTTERY THIS BUILD WILL HAPPEN !:Woot:
