my doors always slam shut with a loud bang, and i have to almost slam them to get them to shut. i'm guessing i should put some sort of sound deadener in the door. any adjustments i can make to help them close easier?

Aligning the striker may help out. It could be way out of adjustment.
Moving it just a small bit can help drastically.

sounds like your door bushings are wore out.....fix them, then line everything up.

Mine did that and I figured out the door latch compotents were all loose and/or missing screws.

I did this on one side of my car this past week. It's not a hard fix and makes a huge difference. You need to take the plastic inner fender splash guard out and you have access to everything. Makes the door close soooo smoothly. it's a great fix for cheap.
the bottom one was in the worst shape. It's just a bit of a PITA to be working at arms length up inside the fender
