ok so my drivers side door lock cylinder has had a dent in it for quite sometime now and i could never get my key into it, so i finally ordered a new set and i dont know how to put them in...any links or a how to guide would be helpful...i dont know how to get the lock cylinder out. i also dont have a lock cylinder at all for my trunk...so i have to opt for a screwdriver to open it...it's like stealing my own car when i go to open it in public...lol any help?? thanx in advance guys :thumbs2:

If they're like the 67 Stangs and other Fords, there's a flat metal clip holding the cylinder in place, just slide the clip out and it falls out of the hole.

obviously you have to remove the inner door panel to get to it

i think you can usually get both the door, the ignigtion as a set since there all the same key. the trunk uses a diffrent key but the instilation process should be about the same.

i ordered a new set for my '78 chevy from pep boys for $21, i sure the'll have the generic ford ones too

yeppers. once you take the door panels off there pretty easy to figure out. trunk is the same type. just open the trunk and you should be able to see the clip in there. might have to unbolt the locking mechanism. but they are pretty self explanitory once you can see them. :)

The door panels are held on with clips, you have to remove the armrest and the door handle cover (on my 73, I've never had anything older) then if you carefully insert a flat blade screw driver at the outer edge, you can pop the clips out of the door, it's one of those things you have to take your time with or you could wreck the door panels. Use a flash light to see the clips, they pop out easily. Then the door locks are held in with a push is clip. I can post pic's if needed, as I'm putting mine back together.

A forked shaped flat tool would be better to pop the clips, Be very gentle with em, the door panel is just hard cardboard, it don't take much to tear the clips out of it.
