you guys know my setup. I am doing various on-line calculators, and most say 10.61 @ 126, but I know there are MANY variables involved, including driver error. One said 11.6, and one said 9.6, but most hovered around mid-10s. Current hp at the wheels is 270, before the 150 nitrous hit. I have 26X10.5 ET Streets for traction. 2900 lbs with full tank, spare tire, toolbox, and driver. Let us assume that the rear and trans hold up for the entire quarter-mile trip Doubtful...
It will be spring, at the earliest. I am not even sure if our track is open this winter, and it is only an 1/8th. This gives me plenty of time to set everything up correctly so I can take it out and break it!
It will be AT LEAST $20, probably more, but not in this thread. I will post that contest closer to the launch time. But, I will insist, as last time, that the money goes to charity, and not to a couple 12-packs of beer for said winner.
Cant remember what you ran before, but I would say about 1.2 second quicker in the quarter less in the 1/8th, no way are you going to hit 10s or even close, but we will see
My first contest winner took cash, and I felt cheated. Yes, it was fair and I put it up for cash, but I would much rather see my prize money go to charity, in the winner's name. Seriously, what is another twenty dollar bill in your pocket? But 20 bucks goes so much further when it is donated to a medical charity or some other benevolent foundation. So anytime from here on out I get an inkling to make a contest, all proceeds go straight to charity, in the winner's name. And the Budweiser Foundation is not an acceptable charity
Yellow, I haven't been to the track since my old engine. Flat tappet, stock 8:1 compression dished pistons, no traction. I beat a later model 5.0 mustang by about a second at the 1/8 track, but I don't remember what my numbers were. Doesn't matter. The car is set up completely different now. There would be no comparison. I was estimating 150 hp at that time, and just shy of 500 now, after the nitrous hits.
It was just an educated guess from previous cars that were comparitable to your set up, the one thing I dont know for sure was how big a shot they used but guessing it was at least 100 shot. I would love to see you get in the 10s but I can tell you this much, you will only do it once and you will get kicked off the track. And if you get in the 10s I will make a $20.00 donation to a charity for you.
Funny thing is...this is my biggest fear. I don't want to have to put a cage in, but will if I have to. Thanks, by the way, for the extra potential donation! I figured I would run it without the nitrous, get some numbers, then light it up with it, and if they kick me off, I will at least have a decent idea of what the car is good for. Luckily, the guys at the 1/8th track know me, and remember me from my first 25 second 1/8th run, and have been encouraging me for years. hopefully, they will be lenient when/if I start to break track rules.
Kind of depends on the track and what the event is. When I broke into the 11's with my GTO I thought my day was over (it was but for other reasons). This was before they changed the cage rule to 11.50 by the way. After my 11.88 pass the car backfired and broke the starter in the return lane (ALWAYS tie the manual choke open if you don't install a cable!). I was towed back by the track owner and he told me to get it running and let my wife drive and I would probably drop another 1/2 second. It was a test and tune so he must not have cared much about the rules that day.
