I donated, what were supposed to be, autographed photos of Hubert Platt's wheelstanding "Georgia Shaker" Boss 429 Maverick Pro Stocker for Gathering door prizes. Unfortunately, the pictures showed up w/o autographs and there was not enough time to correct the error prior to the show day.

Today, I received the autographed ones and will gladly send them to whoever won the regular pics, if they like. Just post here or PM me if you won them or know who did.

I inadvertently parked my P.O.S. next to that car at Fun Ford a few years ago. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum... lol

You parked next to DRAG HAG back in '08. I don't know if it was Harold Dutton's old race car or not. My friend, Jimmy, use to own Harold's '67 DRAG HAG Fairlane after it was re-painted and re-badged as an LX. Jimmy's '70 Maverick that you parked next to in '09 is still running the same Boss 302 heads that Bud Moore built personally.

A few years ago I met an 80 year old plus gentleman at a drag strip reunion show here in Pennsylvania who had a beautiful tubbed out solid red small bumper Maverick. I sat down with him and had a long discussion about his Maverick and also his past drag racing days. He mentioned that he once bought a Thunderbolt Georgia Shaker. He changed it over to his own paint scheme and ran it on the circuit back in the days. Ha had a close to a life ending accident with the car breaking his neck in the process. The car then sat for 29 years before he decided to repair and restore it. He restored it as he had bought it from Platt - the Georgia Shaker. He ran the car in nostagia racing until he finally sent it over the block at Barrett/Jackson. I never heard of this guy or a car called the Georgia Shaker until I sat with him that day but his name is Lee Malkames and he lives in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

I took several pics of that car at that show too. I miss going to those shows over there. Gotta make plans to go back some time.

Ray- Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville Georgia is a great show. No drag racing but a lot of early stock cars on display along with more 39-40, 55-57 Fords you can imagine. One would walk away thinking that every 427 powered Ford is at this show
