Does Anyone Know Where I Can Find A Hydro Clutch Kit For A Toploader. T-5 Seems To Be Everywhere But Didnt See Toploaders??
Toploader ? McCleod hyd throwout bearing is about your only choice, unless you're into machine work. I've had the McCleod in my Ranger for 6 years now. It had teething problems at first, but since rebuilding it about 3 years ago, it's been fine since. I also had to replace the McCleod Banjo fittings right off the bat due to leaks. A T-5 kit (external slave) won't work with the Toploader, no place to mount it with the external shift linkage.
Baddad, Did you use a slip on or the external slave cylinder? I have been wondering about using the slip on because it does away with the fork and linkage but haven't found anyone with any experience with them.
I used the slip on, I don't think McCleod makes any other type. McCleod has since fixed the leaky Banjo fittings they used first. I did em one better and used AN- style fittings on mine. These are a bit harder to install, you have to connect the lines first, then put the unit in the bell, then stab the transmission input thru it (no big deal there, done this a half dozen times now) I extended the bleeder line up to the rear of the intake, this makes it easier to bleed the unit. It's been reliable as hell since working the kinks out. It's driven daily.
I have been thinking of using one to replace the linkage on my 66 Mustang - for the purpose of making headers fit easier. Thanks for the info.
Not to hijack your thread, but what are ya'll doing for a pedal assembly (master) when going to hydraulic? Russ
