OK ... I have been reading on the internet the magic of using clay to clean your paint before waxing your car. The paint on my Grabber is about 18 months old and even when cleaned and waxed it never feels like glass ...

Well I bought some Clay Magic tonight for $10 at Autozone and just did a section of the 1/4 panel to see if it works. I am amazed and completely impressed! The section I did feels and looks like glass ... like the day the painter buffed out the clearcoat! I plan on doing the entire car tomorrow and then applying some KLASSE synthetic wax and coating products that I bought ... the wax is supposed to last one year ... and the more layers your put on the shinier and more reflectiive it gets.

But ... for $10 you have got to buy the clay kit ... it is awesome!

Maybe the clay is a mild abrasion like a polishing compound.

No, particles in the paint just stick to and get imbedded in the clay. By itself it doesn't polish, just removes debris. I've used it on two cars and it is amazing.

Yup ... not abrasive at all - but very, very sticky ... you first spray down the panel with clay lubrication fluid which is included before wiping the panel with the clay. I thoroughly washed the Grabber before the Year One show this past weekend. I keep the car clean and covered and only actually wash it with soap and water every month or two. So right now the car appears completely clean and shiny. However after just doing the small part of the quarter panel it was amazing how much dirt was stuck in the clay! And like I said .. it now feels smooth as glass. :)

Never heard of the clay, (I don't get out much) sounds interesting. I use Liquid Glass when I wax. That stuff gives your paint depth. The more coats you apply the deeper the paint gets.

Geeze, must be air pollution stuff. Wonder what it's doing to your lungs. Sounds like I need to give it a try.

I did my entire car last night with clay ... then followed with Klasse All-in-One and then followed up with Klasse Glaze .... supposed to do 2 or 3 coats of Glaze leaving each application on 12 hours before removing with a towel. I've also read some folks follow this up with Carnuba to finish it off. I must say the paint did look brand new just after the clay alone ....

I've been using the Clay Magic in my body shop for about 3 years now. It is an awesome product. It works fantastic for removing overspray on paint.

I cleaned my glass with it tonight ... the glass turned invisible! :) I'll be at an indoor car show this weekend so I want the car to sparkle!

The stuff I have is McGuire's version, got it pretty cheap at Carlisle Ford Nats. They're probably all the same.
