:dance:So I ended up driving 100 miles to check out that comet i was asking you all of it looked like a good buy. I took my guy to look at it and he told me what it needed. I ended up buying it and driving it back the 100mi. She drove great on the highway. though i only got her up too 90. I didnt want to push it, was only for about 15seconds. lol. been driving her around town to get a feel of what i need.
so far i need power steering, new radiator. everything on the car is orig. I even have all paper work for parts or fix's since 1973. I even have the orig owners manual and factory paper for when she rolled of the line.
I don't really see a lot of 4door comets. i know the 2door is most popular.
but i have been wanting to work on a classic car for some time now.

for those of you who helped me out with the buy and decision thank you, you know who you are.(y)

So i will be on here often, looking for a part or advice.
I am a first time classic car owner. so lets just say i haven't got this car out of my mind yet and its been 4 days. i cant stop thinking about her.

here are some pic of the car. i will take some later this week of me with it. and yes i have the front bumper. he took it off because he didnt like how far it stuck out.

please if you have any questions feel free to ask me. any help i can get would be great.

    1973 Mercury Comet 4/door 302.

Its a nice car and glad you like. Just dont expect to build it up and make any money or get all your money back out of it. You mentioned in your other post you would want to get something to fix up and sell later. This is not the kind of car to do that with. But it is the car play with, have fun, and be different with when going to shows. it will get alot of attention and be alot of fun.

I have a complete power steering setup for a v8 car. I'm not sure what it would cost to ship it though. Make me an offer I can't refuse!

Do you have some pics of the power steering setup.
where do you live. what state and city.

I know its not alot for me to order one. but if i can put money in your pocket and get a lower price for the same thing then great.
    Is it used?

    I am in California

If this car does not currently have any power steering then DONT add it. it will just cause you headache. If the car has power steering then just fix what is bad. Most likely that will include a leaking conrol valve and power assist cylinder. Both are getting more and ore expensive to buy rebuilt from the parts stores. Alot of people end up converting the power steering cars to manual.

Here's a picture of the steering components. I don't have a picture of the pump right now but I can take one if you want. I took the system off to convert it to manual because I wanted the weight reduction and to free up some horsepower the pump robs. Yes they're old and will have some leaks obviously. This one wasn't dripping oil but it is gooey!

the pump isnt the most common to leak. the control valve below is usually a problem. and the assist cylinder. and theres 4 hoses involved in this system. What a pain. I replaced it all twice before i pulled it all out and went to manual.
