I finally got me a car! Here is some info about it: 1971 170 cid 3-on the tree bucket seats (not original) manual steering, brakes no a/c rust FREE (haven't pried up carpet, but none behind wheels) It lacks door panels and door/trunk keys, the first upgrades. the small engine is quite anemic and will be replaced with a 5.0 eventually How do you change the trunk lock with it closed?? i'm pre-empting the worthless smilies
Congrats! Looks like you got a good car to work with. If you remove the rear seat, you can get into the trunk and release the latch with a screwdriver. You have to stick the screwdriver in the little slot that the latch rod is sticking in. It's about 1/4" wide. I usually take a very long thin blade screwdriver and a flashlight, reach thru the opening, give it a little twist and it should pop open. I have had some that gave me trouble...in that case I would get a 7/16th socket or ratchet wrench and remove the two small bolts that hold the striker to the trunk lid. There is a large c-clip that holds the trunk lock in. Slide the clip out and the lock will come right out.
