When I had my seats re-upholstered for the Grabber the upholstery shop ran short on the NOS comfortweave material to do the inserts. The front bucket inserts were done to factory dimensions .. however, the rear inserts are about 3 or 4 inches narrower than factory. Of course, I'm the only one that would ever know this but sometimes I am a stickler for perfection. Today I got this mint condition original 1971 Grabber Rear Comfortweave seat! It will be going in the Grabber and replacing the incorrect rear seat .... and my mind will finally be at ease!:bananaman I will sell my re-upholserted rear seat if anyone is interested ...
the only diff. i see is ..one is in the car..the other one is in the house... i like the black band on the front of the bottom better...J.M.O....frank...
Frank .. both of them are black across the bottom ... you just can't see it from the angle that I took the picture of the original ... THey are identical except for the width of the inserts ....
Craig, Dennis, Dan Starnes and I noticed the narrow inserts at the Roundup but we felt bad about telling you. Glad you finally 'fessed up! just kiddin' Merry Christmas
Interested in those seats Well, my Maverick will not be a completely original restoration, so I'd be interested in thoses seats.
Very nice find, but Dan, just so you don't get like my Mustang buddies, that worry about whether or not they have the correct factory chalk marks on the frame and rear axles ......... that's why I left that crowd to be a Maverick ..... that sort of stuff will drive you crazy Eric J
I'm not that crazy .... but when you know something isnn't right with your car it sticks out like a sore thumb .... only to you ... but it still sticks out ....
I hear you - one of the reasons I have mixed feelings about painting my own cars. Every tiny little flaw just draws my eyes right to it. But in the long run it is more fun to do it yourself, even if you know where the mistakes are and nobody else can see them.
