http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?p=102889#post102889 sorry to post here but i need to figure out what to do soon
yeah i figured so.. but then again the maverick wasn't either at one time.. but its got enough room for a stroked 460
If you were to keep it for yourself, you could make a nice cruiser. Stock-ish 460 with a C6 and A/C would be pretty cool. Lower it to the right attitude, good paint, and some tint would do it wonders... Cool rims and tires are a given. Dave
Dearborn Classics probably makes repop parts for those things. Why don't you donate it to a high school or community college body shop class. That way someone gets some benefit out of it. Perhaps your uncles estate can get a tax break as well for donating. It's that or E-bay. Somebody is bound to want it. They did make those with 428's. 352's, 390's and 289's are probably more common than 428's and 6 bangers. Seth
I'd say you could keep it around until you have time to work on it. It isn't doing anything but taking space and even though you do not have any, where there is a will, there is a way......I would keep it. Sentimental.....thats why the black maverick will never leave my possession......sometimes in life all we have to hold on to is memories.
Being its a 2 door, you will have no problem selling it. I would contact this club. http://www.galaxieclub.com/
m&m, terry, is an "old, big, ford man". or is it he is old...or big... . anyway he might could steer you in a "right "direction...frank... i am also sorry for your loss.
Derrick, I am a member of the Ford Galaxie Club of America. There is two very good and very active sub-chapters in California. I will get you the contact info for So-Cal Galaxies. I will also get you the contact to Mark Reynolds, Director of the club. He may allow you to post an ad in the Galaxie Gazzette and maybe even on the above web site. Unless you just want that '68 Custom, there is absolutely no good reason for you to keep it. You think getting parts for Mavericks is hard. The only thing that interchanges on Galaxies made from '61 to '70 is the dirvetrain. Period. The Customs were the absolute lower end of the model class and almost have no value except for being a parts car. Derrick, even though it was your uncle's car and it brings back memories, it is still okay to make a decision with the head overruling the heart.
hum thanks guys.. so your saying its a 68 then. my dad said it was a 300 I6 but then again its been like 25 years since he's worked on it. i dont have the paper work cuz my mom got it and haven't had a chance to go over and look at it. so by the looks of it is it a 68?
Definitely a '67. I have owned both a '67 and a '68. I bet the same discussion takes place when somebody dies and there is an old Maverick in the garage.
if it was a maverick i wouldn't be haveing this conversation it would be more like.. nah nah nah look what i have. :bananaman but since its not a maverick and i don't where to start with this thing... well you already know the story the funny thing with a maverick i know the thing better then the back of my hand (well sometimes) and not only that but i got tons of parts for them. in this case thats a hold another thing.
I agree with Craig - it's a '67. I had a Galaxie 500 fastback. Wish I had money 'cause I have a 302 4 speed that would work great in that car.
i think there is a following for that type of car. my friend is obsessed with them. looks just like a galaxie 500. my friend would have wanted to buy it from you but he is currently serving a lds mission and is going to be gone for 2 years. so i think your best bet, that is if you don't want to keep it, is go to a galaxie 500 message board and put it on there for sale and one of those guys might pick it up and keep it origional.
My bad. It is '67. Excuse the phat phingers. The give away is the headlights. Verticle headlights were used in '65, '66, and '67. All other years were horizontal.
Just adding my comment of how I always liked that line of cars ("Custom"). Some of us are simple folk.:16suspect
