Ok, I am restoring a 71 comet gt and putting a 408 stroker engine in her. Would it be a good idea to get new leaf springs (considering the age of the car) and do they make special ones for the engine I will be running? Also, what would be a good coil spring and shock (what kind of shocks adjustable or not) setup? Or do I even need new springs? And lastly does anyone have a dash pad? I have a donor car and its pad is even worse.

And don't worry I will post pictures upon completion. Thanks again for your help.

Well, as for rear springs, do YOU think that the car needs them?? Does it bottem out on bumps?? How does it ride?? If you decide to replace them, there are several manufacturors to choose from and 3 options for leaf springs- 3 leaf, 4 leaf, mono-leaf. It's all in what you want. In the DRAG RACING forum there is a recent post about adjustable race shocks.....It's on the first page of the Drag racing page. As for coil springs, I'd wait till you get the new motor in, then see how it sits. It may sit just like you want it to. If it's too high, cut a coil out. If it's too low.........then replace them. Might save some money this way- If you don't need the stuff, there's no sense in buying it........:D Good Luck!! Hope this helps a bit!! Preston

BTW- 408 is what I am swapping to also!! (y) Preston
