Hello Everyone, This is my first time posting and most likely many more to come. I just purchased my first maverick 2 weeks ago. I have been wanting one as long as I can remember. I grew up with one. My mother bought her first one in 1972 and we had it as our family car until 1985 and it sat in our yard till 1992. It was getting real close to the time I could drive but then they got rid of it on me. So since then I have always had my eyes open for one. So to say the least I am Maverick person from birth and I was brought home in one.
The one I aquired is '72 2 door coupe also and I purchased it for $900. It has a 250 6 cyl. with auto trans. The interior is in pretty good shape. There are 2 tears in the front bench and a tear in the head liner. The exterior needs a good paint job and there is some rust that is not visible yet about the size of a quarter in the back quarter panel. Right now I am leaning on keeping it as original as possible beside the wheels and paint. Right now it is a metalic blue but you can see the original yellow underneath. Who knows I may take it back to yellow. All I know is I love the little beast and have no plans on parting with. I always liked the typical Mustange however I like the odd little cars such as the Maverick. My childhood dream has come true. :)

Brought home as a baby in a Maverick,,, now that is really cool. Comgrats on your purchase, and welcome to the board. Now your next step should be to join the Maverick Comet Club International, a real source for knowledge and mav/comet fellowship.

Welcome aboard! You couldn't ask for a better place to come to for information about Mavericks. This is a large family that loves to keep growing. It's always great to meet a new member. That is a cool story about being brought home as a baby in a Maverick. I don't think too many of us have had that pleasure.:D

Thanks everyone, I feel so welcomed :D. Scott and Dan, I live in Bridgewater but right now the car is sitting at my parents in Cape May. I have a place, tools, a lift to use and brother that is a mechanic to help me. Eventually I will get it to tour New Jersey sometime. The previous owner took from Barnegate to South Plainfield a few times in the last couple of months.
I feel like I have a child that I left behind some where else at this present moment. The car is registered and runs great but I need to do some break work on it first. So hopefully I will have it safely on the streets this weekend. I plan on taking it out and about when Wildwood has its Hot Rod show this May. That is best time to see some insperation. But the Maverick definitely lacks representation there. I will be sure to keep you all posted as the car progresses. We will have to have a mini meet at some point. :)
