well, it's either my ignition switch, or something the the column...my cars been going crazy lately. my lights have been flickering (headlights interior dash...the works) and my horn was goin crazy a day ago, my brake lights turn on when i turn the wheel a certain way (same for the lights). how do i remove the plastic piece below the gauge cluster? i dont wanna tear it off...lol. i think that something might be frayed in there, but only one way to tell...thanx in advance

i always drop the...package tray...when working under the dash...
then remove the two nuts that hold the plastic piece under the column.
if need be take the next 3 nuts off and the column will drop down a little to give you more room...and i remove the driver bucket seat if i'm going to be there for a while...
the collar on the column is a Boy Dog to get off. i leave it on...

    Hope this helps...

any ideas where the short might be happening, it effects my brake lights along with all other electrical, but i can't see any sing of fraying anywhere, it definetly has to do with the steering column, b/c it only does it when i turn the steering wheel sometimes, i was turning my brake lights on and off by turning the wheel

there is about 16 wires that run down the steering column from the ignition switch and turn signal.

i tried to reply to your pm but seem to be having network issues:
the adapter some of the after market wheels use includes a plate you place in the column. you may want to take the wheel off anyway to look for shorts, but that plate is a contact for the horn in the steering column and can easily short against metal in the column. make sure to disconnect the batt first then pull the wheel and check that assembly. you may want to check the turn signal switch setup and wires while your in there.... this part can be done from the top though, just have to take off the wheel.
