I am leaning toward a candy apple red for my maverick, but haven't seen many in that color, and just want to see if it looks good with "the lines" of our cars.

Could some of you post some pics of Mavs in reds, maroons, and other colors close to the classic "candy apple" color? I am also leaning toward maybe the "Anniversary Red" that came out on the '04 Corvette...

If you can name the color, brand, etc. that would also be helpful. Also, if you could do a closeup of the paint under good lighting/sunshine. Hate to be so picky...

    Thanks in advance :D

I dont know how much you were planning on spending on a paint job, but I can tell you, a true Candy Apple Red paint job is not even close to the moderate range! There are very few painters that can spray candy colors since it is so difficult. If you planning on staying around the 6k range for paint and body work, I would steer more toward a solid or metalic red color.

I pulled up the www.mazda.com, and looked at it. It is sorta what I have been looking at...a little redder than maroon, with a good metal dust. I may need to swing by the local mazda dealer and see it in person. It looks pretty close to what I want.

I saw this last year at a corvette show. I like the gost flames, but I am pretty sure we will look back on them in 10-15 years and think they are stupid...like those double-blade windshield wipers I had in highschool.

Have you seen Ford's "burnt copper" on the King Ranch trucks???
It looks kind of crimson in shadow and reddish copper in the light. I'd like to paint mine that way, would be different IMO

and as for a true candy red....heres a couple pics of one. I'm sure most everybody is bored with this car by now. but its candy and a shade of red, so there ya are.

and as for picking a paint, its best to see in person, as different lighting will affect the look . candies can look completely different in bright light compared to even an overcast day.

mavinator, I looked at your pics. That is a nice color. Is there any metalflake or dust in it? Hard to tell. The pics look like they were taken on a cloudy day.

Rolandag has a 1300 Suzuki with a color I really like. It is a heavily metal-dusted just-off-maroon red. That is kinda what I am looking for. As long as it has heavy dust or pearl (fan2488 has a great pearl in his clearcoat). I want it to glitter in the light, but not quite as much as a bass boat. Well, maybe as much as a bass boat

This is my neighbor's King Ranch truck. It is a cool color. Almost looks black when the light is dim.

the top doesnt have much flake at all since the sun here in florida has had its way with it but the sides show flake. it was probably a really nice color when freshly painted but definately not the original color
