I'ts been a long time since I've posted, (construction season,me very busy)...but enough of that

just wanted to let everyone know I finally got the chance to race my mav on the 1/8 mile last weekend A FIRST TIME FOR ME AND THE MAV...the best could get was a 9.54 with a .626 reaction time and a 2.22 60 ft. at 72.6 mph on 245/60/14 street tires... I tried to find some slicks but time was very limited. I will definatly have slicks for the next race, and the cars goin on a big diet!!! it will be race only !!!!

sorry so long !!....any input from the veteran racers would be greatly appericated!!!

The cost of reducing you E.T. is directly porportional to the amont of money spent.

I'd like to get into the 7's or low 8's, it doesn't really matter. As far as the money goes I've rebuilt most everything on my car for less then most people have spent on there engines, I could spend more on it, not a problem. I know I should be able to get my car in the 8's fairly easily and with little expense! time is my biggest factor here, working construction out of state, I only get every other weekend to work on it,at least till winter when I get laid off.ths winter I'm planning on putting a supercharger on my engine. then back to the traction problems again!!!

theres a race coming up in sept. I'll be sure to post my times again, hopefully I'll have my slicks by then and some better numbers!

where is your timing set at? You can get alot more performance with more timing. Are you running lock-out timing? Mechanical advance or vacuum? What type of igniton are you running, stock after market? What gear do you have? I had a basically stock engine(302) in my car before, with MSD and 4.56 gears and with 28x9 slicks I ran 7.70's all day. But.........as far as "high 7's low 8's, it doesn't really matter" :D If you are anything like me or most other people I know, you will always be looking for ways to go faster! ;) Keep in touch, there are alot of guys here that can give good advice on what to spent money on for preformance gains and what will not help much. p.s. I am glad more racers are coming to this board. Gives me something to talk about:cool:

thanks for the replies my ignition is a stock duraspark, with vacuum, and mechanical advance (not locked out) My timing set at 14 degrees advance. I'm running 3.80 gears with a detroit locker and lakewood slapper bars. My times were run on 245/60R14 raidials (about 25" tall) I just recently ordered a set of Micky Thompson ET drags 26X10.00-15 (still have to get new rims.)so that should help out some!

check out my website to find out the rest of my car specs it's all there!
