Hello! How wonderful to find you all! I don't currently own a maverick/comet but am really trying to convince my husband that I want one. I've been watching the for sale boards for a few weeks now. also checking ebay and other sites i can find. I currently drive a Jeep Wrangler (a whole different game), and sad to say I must get a more family-friendly vehicle. So I need a car. But i don't won't just any car. I have been looking at Mavericks, Comets, and Mustang IIs. This would be my daily driver, but i want something with a little more a$$ than my little 4-cyl jeep. My husband has a '69 Camero that he has set up for drags/street. So you'd think it would be easy to convince him. But alas...no girl is ever taken serious when it comes to cars. Well i will be watching the boards, lookin' for the deal of the century! any guidance would certainly be appritiated! Thanks, kim '94 jeep wrangler
Welcome to the circus Kim. Certainly glad ya found us, cuz there's a lot of great people here. And just show your husband a few good Mavericks, and he oughta come around. If not, then what kinda guy is that? How can ya not love a Maverick?!?! Welcome aBoard. David
Hey Kim, Welcome to the board. Letsee, Hubby drives a Cheby and you're looking for a Ford - sounds like you'll get along fine with us other 'Mavericks' here. Are you looking for a 2-door or 4-door? I'd say a V-8 Powered A/C'd Auto Maverick or Comet would suite you fine and get a lot of attention on top of having a nice daily. Good luck in your search and keep us posted, Rick
(Me again)....I'd have to agree with Rick. That V8 will probably give you the power you're looking for, and AC is always nice.
Welcome aboard Kim. If we knew where you are located, we could be of more help in finding you the Maverick/Comet you are looking for. Great group of people here. Have any questions? Just fire away.
Welcome,,, I knew a guy once that came to the Roundup,, didnt own any mav/com's at the time. He owns about 12 now. uhhumm doug,,,, and I think if you try real hard, you can convince ole hubby that mavericks are cooler than any camaro out there. All this from a guy who also owns a camaro!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dan
Welcome Kim. As to how to convince hubby that a Maverick is a good choice of cars, just tell him this. Cameros have become a dime a dozen car anymore. They are as common as fingernails. The Maverick is not so common, so when someone see's a nice looking Maverick ( or Comet), they usually take notice. With boards like this, finding parts is getting to do and there is always someone here who can offer advice or tips when the need comes up. Keep your eyes open, and sooner or later, the right Maverick will show up. Oh, BTW, I'm a girl who just happens to co-own an autobody restoration shop with my husband. Iv'e worked on cars for over 20 years, so I'm pretty sure some girls are taken seriously where cars are concerned. Let us know how you make out.
Dittos on the welcome! Just wait, once you find the right Maverick for yourself, you will both find out how much attention your Maverick gets! Enough attention I imagine to get your hubby thinking twice.
Thank you all for the welcome. I'm located near St. Louis. about 20 minutes west of the city. My husband is feeling a little bit better about this whole thing. I showed him this board. He's concerned about being able to find parts, should something need to be fixed. It seems like this site alone has an abundance of things, and info. I'm looking at the earlier models it would seem. I like the '70, '74. I prefer 2 door but some of the 4 door i've seen are pretty cool too. AC is a definate. The jeep doesn't have it, and i'm tired of it. Summer is pretty warm here in the mid-west. (sorry 'bout the chick comment) You guys will be a delight to get to know. I will keep ya posted of my progress. -thanks kim
I hope your husband helps you out. My husband was super happy when I decided to go with another Ford. We have had several so far. I have a 1964 Mercury Comet and a 1973 Mercury Comet that I just got over the holiday weekend. My new comet is so much better than the 64. It is a 302 V8, 2dr with a/c. It is everything that I wanted and more. So keep on looking, your car is out there.
hey kim, some parts are harder to find then others but a lot of the suspension and engine parts are available at napa or autozone. i get a lot of people come over to me at the drag strip to look at the car and talk about mavericks. definitely a fun car to have.
Welcome Where outside of St. Louis are you? 20 minutes west puts you around Fenton, Town and Country etc. I am in Eureka. You can tell your husband that they are reproducing entire 69 Camaro Convertibles, see the latest issue of Hot Rod.
