The '77 Pumpkin is in the paint shop. It is about six months behind - five my problem and one waiting on the painter. Earl and I had the car ready for sanding and repair in three hours! That was removing all exterior and interior trim, all locks, latches, bumpers, grill, lights, glass, etc. A few dings need to be repaired, a fix or tow is needed on the drip rails, and the most extensive problem to be fixed is the trunk. (I will be doing a repair on the trunk with a couple of new wrinkles and will document and photograph the repair to share.) The first picture is how the car looked before we took a wrench to it. The others show the car in various stages of getting ready. Hopefully, we should be completely through with all body work in about 3-4 weeks.
I see orange! Good luck with the trunk project (hatchback comes to mind when I see that you've taken the back seat support out).
It is going be a 2006 Ford Color. My wife and daughter have one week to choose between Dark Blue Pearl Clearcoat or Merlot Pearl Clearcoat. You can see the 2006 codes and color here. http://www.cardata.com/spoilers/Car_Paint_Colors/Ford_paint_codes.htm There will no trim on the exterior except hood lip and the trim around the windshield and back glass. Aside from that trim, the door handles, and the chrome bumpers, the only bling on the car will be the very shiney Cragar SS wheels. Oh, there will be a "spoiler" on the car, but that is a top secret, known only to a few who can be dead by midnight.:evilsmile
Can't wait to see the color after it's painted. Doing away with all the chrome, huh? The 70's was about chrome....
I wanted to paint the bumpers, but my daughter didn't. The drip rail trim and wheel lip trim are not going back on. The wheel lip trim went in the trash and the drip rail trim may show up for sale. I do have good wheel lip trim and will keep it and the drip rail trim until all are satisified with the final appearance.
Can't wait to see the finished product, let us know what color they decide on. Cragar's will look great on it. BTW, who decided to put Cragar SS wheels on it You or your daughter?
I'm surprised Frank isn't crying. Your getting rid of his awesome rattle can job. I'm telling you guys, with the wheels and color this car is going to be, it's really going to turn some heads. The wheels are just awesome.
I made a deal and acquired the Cragars with practically new (2) 205/70-14's and (2) 235/60-14's. I knew they would look good on the car and hoped that my daughter would also. She loves 'em. Before anybody asks, the Magnums on the car now are going to my sister for her '67 Mustang convertible. Get this. In her CD collection is some Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, CCR, ZZTop, etc. Right now, she tries to watch every Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Mickey Rooney, etc. movie she can see on TCM. Oh, she still has current pop tastes, too, but she likes the older stuff a little better.
