installed new key switch need help!!

    i installled a new keys switch in my 72 maverick and now it will start without the key can anyone enlight me why???

    Are you saying the tumbler(key mechanism) operates without the key?

    yes sir! i replaced it a few months ago and by accident last week i turned it to start caus ei thought i had the key in it after it sturned over i realized it didnt even have a key in it. any idea if i installed it incorrectly or what?
