Well, now that my daily driver is inspected and on the road I plan to get a Temp gauge to install. What can I do integrate the sensor? I'm going to install a flushing T while I'm at it so I don't really want two different things splitting the rad lines. The thermostat housing with a pre-drilled hole from classic inlines is the wrong size for the sender of the gauge I want. Any suggestions or advice about adding a temp gauge?
You can buy an adapter fitting that goes from the 3/8" in the thermostat housing to a 1/2" sending unit thread size
For the V8 its in the intake manifold and its a red-white cable... i cant remember for a six...i was thinking in the back but that may be for the oil pressure... let me look it up. as for the threads just use teflon.
I am a gunkaholic I use something on all threads, I just did what I told you to do and just used teflon tape. I also just bought and Autometer temp gauge and it did not come with any adapters. Hopefully we are both talking about a mechanical guage
Just ressurecting this thread a bit. I'm going to look through the Mav manual I have to see if there's a port somewhere to put it in. The sensor looks really really big to me for some reason. Can I get conformation on where the hole could be?
I looked at a mechanical Sunpro temp gauge today and the temp probe that goes in the engine looks really long. Anybody have any issues or will they work ok?
The probe needs to be in the line of flow. If it is too short the gauge will not be accurate. If it is too long it will bottom out and read metal temp instead of water temp...and leak also.
I've got a 200 six and the temp probe is at the back of the head. When I installed my gauges, I left the original one in place so I'd still have my "idiot light". I then located the new mechanical sensor at the water outlet at the front. You can also check out this thread: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=61780
