After I blasted my intake I painted it will a clear coat to give a some what of a look like it should have had when purchased. Well that was before the front pump on my holley started to leak. I was wondering if it would be best just to pull the intake off the car and painted it again or if it is possible to do it while it is in the car. But the gas leak has really discolored the clear bad.

if you look right behind the dis. you can see some of what I am talking about.

I have a hard time focusing on anything in the picture. My eyes keep drawing towards the green!

I blasted mine also but did not clear it. You can't get the stains out of the clear. If you leave it natural it's much easier to clean and keep clean. I tried the clear one time and never again. I recently had to work on my Holley a bit so I kept getting gas on my intake. After I finished I took a spray can of Acrysol and shot it on the gas stains and soaked it up in a rag. It came perfectly clean. Any time it ever gets just a little dirty I spray it and it looks like I just blasted it again...2 minute job. You can get the Acrysol or something similar at any automotive paint suppliers. It also works great if you are detailing your car for a car show. I drive my car a lot so I always have some cleaning to do before a show. You can spray this stuff inside your engine compartment and wipe it right off without harming your paint. It's a great degreaser.

If you dont clear it, an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner cleans them right up.

I sprayed mine with a header paint that is called aluminum. Did that 13 years ago,, still looks decent.

I guess my biggest question I have is should I suck it up and pull it off the car and paint it, or should I repaint it on the car

I'd just tape everything off and paint it on the car, no point in making a huge mess and having to replace the gaskets just to paint it.

I guess by the time you carefully masked it all off, you could have the intake off and painted and drying. Would probably be best in the end. As nice as that car is,,, take it off!

Dan thank you for the complement but, I just don't see it:16suspect

That was my plan just wondering what everyone else thought. Have access to a bead blaster now so off the clear will come. Just don't know when, it is just about driving season again :yup:
