I had a guy stop by the house today(Friend of a friend). Ask me if I would be interested in having his company sponsor my car.:bananaman Well, I told him sure. The only problem is I have no ideal what type of dollar figure to ask for I have 2 race shops that help me with the cost of parts and labor and what-not, but I have not had any dealings with a non-race related company wanted to put their name on my car. So I was wondering what you guys have done in the past. Any help appreciated.
when i raced stock car, it depended on where they wanted to be on the car. hood was always the most expensive, and depended on how big they wanted there logo.
John; went through this years ago. Depends on what they want to sponsor. If you need help with travel expenses, entry fees, etc, try to get an amount that will cover the entire season, and possibly some off-season expenses such as engine overhaul, trans and safety updates. Present them with pictures, records, time slips, and anything else that can help your cause. Find out where they want their name placed on the car. As fan2488 said, the hood is the most expensive, but the quarters are what most people will see when the car is in motion. Good luck!
I worked out a deal with a BBQ place here in Houston for $2,500/season (to put his logo on the rear quarter). He paid me $1,000 as a 'binder'......then his place went out of business! So, no sponsor per se, but I did buy a few good parts.
Thanks guys. I already told him we would put nothing on the body of the car. With most street car rules your not allowed to have sponsorship on the body, window's only. 1) I have thought about paying entry fee. 2) Thought about paying for my fuel. 3) Thought about having them buy me 2 sets of slicks. 4) And thought about a lump sum for the year. *I am sitting down with him this Friday and we are going to talk it out. Thanks again.
I'd just ask him point blank what dollar amount he was wanting to spend. Personally, I'd go for money instead of slicks, etc. That way you can have money saved up for when you do need slicks, something breaks, etc
