I finally got to the final stage of the 70's restoration...the interior. Removed the carpet and to to my amazement the floorboards were spotless and every piece of molded tar paper was intact. I sprayed the marked area of the wheel wells with sound deadener
When I took the carpet out of my ' 71...I found two rust holes the size of a golf ball..I wish mine would've looked as nice as yours but, it will....
Thx ya'll..Jim if anyone ever wanted to know what they looked like comin down the assembly line that's it. I put the new one piece molded carpet in, I gotta give these guys a plug...http://stores.ebay.com/Auto-Carpet-Professionals ...the molds and fit were perfect, some trimming of course but very little. The deadener is 3M underbody spray.
That looks great Rick! Thanks for the link, I will keep them in mind when it comes time for carpet for mine. Which style did you get?
After the carpet was down I started at the back working my way forward, new package tray and I reconditioned the sail panels and trim, Mike (mysticcobra) had the seat covers on e-bay awhile back and they didn't sale so I contacted him and he made me a great deal on them and some other items (seat belts, kick panels, sun visors, rear view mirror. door handles etc...all in excellent condition. My original seat covers were made 2/70 these were made a month later and are exactly the same...gotta love that plaid.
That is awesome! So that is what it should look like. Same seats that were in my car originally. I still have the back seat material somewhere.
