I bought 2 cars a while back, been driving one of them....but just now got the other one out & fixed up. The previous owner was a smoker. The interior of the car has the horrid smell of cigarattes. What is the best way to get rid of the odors?

Yes! What he said...I took the carpet completely out of my car. Scrubbed it down in the carport, with carpet cleaner, hosed it off with a garden hose. Let it sit for a week draped over sawhorses to dry. Then reinstalled in the car. Looks like it's new. Used Armourall vinyl & leather cleaner, with a small hand brush. Got the seats to look new also. Have fun....

I drive different vehicles every day and most of them wreek with cigarette smoke.....I use "Ozium" spray air fresheners in all of them. I like the unscented one ...of the many scents they offer.

hotrod daddy is right on on this one. rental cars here in NV always reak and my mother gets nauseated by it. she buys ozium and sprays it once or twice in there and you cant smell the smoke anymore.

Another trick that helps a great deal is to go to your local grocery store and pick up a bottle of pure "peppermint" or "mint" extract. Get a small bowl and place some cotton in it. Pour some of the mint on the cotton, then leave the bottle open and place in the car somewhere it won't get knocked over. If possible, let it set for several days and it really makes a difference. This technique also keeps mice away for winter storage, and doesn't leave the awful smell of using moth balls.

This tip does not "replace" a good cleaning and shampooing of all the interior components, but it really does help!

Another trick is to put a dryer sheet, the one you put in the clothes dryer, in the ash tray. It will freshen up the inside right well.

once you get it clean and fresh, be sure to keep John "pinky" Ford away from it, that will help decrease the need for fabreeze :49:
