I like the stuff called Sem, it has its own prep cleaner for plastic or vinyl and they have satin black which is real close to the factory sheen. I get it at my local Carqeust parts store. I hope this helps .

Chris is right about SEM products,, great stuff. The real thing about spraying interior panels is the prep work prior to spraying ( like painting a car). I use lacquer thinner to wipe the panel prior to spraying. This does 2 things, it cleans the panel, and it heats the plastic up like a catalyst and opens what pores it has to accept and to retain product. I fought stuff like this in the past and an old timer turned me onto the lacquer thinner thing. Never had a problem since.

I have used SEM products before with great results but they do not always have the color or shade that I need .I have known about the laquer thinner trick for years.

SEM is the absolute only way to go. On soft vinyl, you can use the vinyl prep and spray dye. For the hard pieces, you need to use the vinyl/plastic primer in between the prep and dye. I use 3M Adhesive, Wax, and Mark remover prior to applying the prep - After a thorough cleaning with soap and water.

If you have to use rattle cans, go with the SEM. I used product from a professional body shop supply that I shot with a touch up gun on my compressor. They made me perfect matches for both the metal paint and dye. If you have a compressor, this is the best way to go. The small touch up guns, even the cheap ones, lay down a much better layer of paint and dye with a much better end result. You can do well with rattle cans if you do thin layers and be patient. Make absolutely sure that you use vinyl prep on the vinyl parts after you throughly clean them and before you shoot the dye regardless of what kind you use.

There is a professional auto paint supplier near me that sells SEM and can mix colors, to match OEM codes or your favorite color, using SEM dyes and paints. They can sell a quart can or whatever for your use.
