I"ve got a 73 with LDO interior in tan. Need to dress up top of interior door where someone rested their arm for the past 34 years and wore the paint off. Haven't been able to find a source for exact match with spraybombs. Last resort will be to go to paintshop and have them match.
You won't find an exact match. I used some sort of tan exterior truck and van paint. Just paint the entire door instead of trying to match exactly ... here's the ones I painted:
Tan arm rests That looks great, figured I'd probably be going the same route. I'll probably end up going to a paint shop and having a quart of the closest mixed up and do both doors. I used to be in the auto paint business and know they can also add some plasticizer to any color so it'll bend. Just clean good with an appropriate solvent to open the pores and let 'er rip. Nice looking inside------you've got me wanting to go ahead and replace the shag thats still in mine.
That's because most spray bombs are enamel. Interior paint is lacquer that is not color sanded and buffed out. That's why it's flat but still slightly shiny when it's new. Go to Dearborn Classics. They don't service Mavericks, but they do have the correct interior paints in spray bombs for a pretty decent price.
interior is finished Well, I'm about 95% there on my project. Ended up using some nutmeg colored acrylic enamel for the metal part of the door and some SEM vinyl paint for the door panel. The dark outside panels you see on the seats are from having a pint of vinyl paint mixed made to order from Sherwin Williams. I also used the same color on my dash and everything tied in real well. First photo in the series is what I started with. Showing the mismatched armrests and worn spot on the door interior. Still got that original sweeeeeeet shag!
Very very very nice job there. I'm a fan of tan, and I like the use of different tones to break things up. I hope the paint on the seat surfaces wears well.
Thanks for the compliment y'all----------I hope it wears well too. The middle part is the original vinyl and color so the side bolsters were the only things painted. Not being a daily driver (but not being a "stay in the garage under a tarp" car either) it'll get gentle use. I'll try and keep you all informed on how it's wearing.
