gate z shifter will move freely but then wont let me shift into neutral reverse or park. the car is stuck in park. some one mentioned torque locked but i have no clue is the cable supose to be bent like this? thanks for the help
Cable should not be bent at that sleeve...I would say cable is fubar. You still need to figure out why the trans wont shift though...Disconnect the cable and see if you can shift the trans by hand. If it still wont move, you need to rock the car and try again or pull the driveshaft and try to shift it. Parking pawl my be loaded by vehicle weight...Is it parked on an incline??? This will load the pawl and make it hard to shift out of park...Good luck!!!
thanks i will have a new one tomorrow definately thanks out of the 28 viewers your the only one with an answer. if i cant shift it by hand then what? i already upgraded the valve body
No problem man...Gotta say, you probably didnt get a response due to the fact that its hard to see whats up in the pics unless you blow em up. If you cant shift it by hand after doing the above...You need to drop the pan and see whats up.
I have the same problem with my z-gate. If it is on an incline, it won't come out of park. I'm raptly listening
i am not on an incline though thats the problem i am on the side of the road in front of my apartment. how hard should it be to shift the transmission by hand?
Little tip for ya... If you park it on an incline, set the parking brake before you put it in park. This keeps the load (cars weight) off the parking pawl, and helps the B&M shifter cables live longer...
