I dont know about anyone elses car but I have alot of play on the steering wheel. It is because the pitman arm is moving back and forth where it connects to ps control thingy..sorry dont know the proper name. there is supposed to be a boot sealing it but it's gone. is this dangerous? how do I remedy this problem?

to the best of my knowledge that slop is from the control sensor for the power steering. mine is sloppy too. it is a 125 dollar part and i am told sometimes even the new ones stink. my .02

My 76 Mav. was a power steering car took off all the power stuff
when we put a V8 in it it got sloppy this spring after putting smaller tires on it, broke the nut free on top of the steering box and turned the screw on top down a little at a time till the play was gone. Don't know if this works on all but really helped mine.
