I go to my other junk yard and they are getting ready to crush half the yard.
They only have 2 mavericks in the yard but after running around the entire
yard (about 10 acres) I did find a couple of pintos and several fox body
mustangs with the pedel assemblys still in them. also found a 84 truck with
the big 300 6cyl and a 4-speed in it. the 9inch rear was gone but another
truck next to it had one andit was a 3 speed. My other yard with 15+
mavericks and comets was closed by the time I got there.

Now the big problem, as of today I can lay my hands on 3 mavericks
1970 2 door 6cyl minor dents and almost no rust
1973 2 door 6cyl minor dents and fair amount of surface rust
    1973 2 door 6cyl condition unknown

the 1970 he has $1000 on the car but will take $750 if it is to someone
that wants to restore it...see picture. No holes in the doors and only a
few pops in the fender area. there is a gash in the LH door that will need
patchin. but this is by far the most rustfree car i have seen here in east
    tennessee.

the unknown 1973 will be around $400 but i havent seen it up close yet
but will go look at it sometime this next week.

the other 1970 he wants $700 but i have been told he might take 400-450
for it. His wife wants it gone.:)

guess i need to figure out which ones i want of just buy them all.:coco:
    Its a good thing I don't have a wife and kids.:biglaugh:

I'd like to have the 70 I just dont have the money.

I did get a 77 today but it was already parted out and then it was used for target practice. I just want a few things off it and then I will offer parts or the shell up here. I will try to get picts of it tomarrow or Monday.

I did find a nice 70-72 but they (car lot) has $7500 on it but will probably take 6 grand for it. It has fresh paint, p/s a/c but no compressor lines, v8, auto, comet scoop, mustang spoiler.

Added the 70 to the collection

The guy with the 70 called me today, I tried to talk him into restoring
it and joining the wonderfull people here;) but he said he would sale it to
me for 600 I SAID SOLD!!! It is in better shape than the 73 i have in
the garage but the 73 is a grabber. I will have it here by mid week, and
the others will be here soon if they past the mustard. at this point if i get
them all i will have 5 mavericks and that doesnt include the other one
that the guy as not called me back on yet. Guess I better get started on
getting a bigger garage and soon.:)

Robert when you get tired of the 70 I'll be happy to have it. My 302 really wants to live in there? Do you need help getting it home? Does this mean it wil be at the car show Friday?

no wife or kids and you wonder which one to buy. aslong as you have the room and money you could probably get all the parts you need and make some money to boot. wtg:)

going to have him drive it up here tomorrow. It is of course got 2lug rims
and the front is in a bad need of an allignment. Steelbelts are poking through
but this one i dont think will take as long as the grabber to get road worthy.

The 74 shell i have a dad's house has a 5 lug chassis and front disc brakes
so i can get it moved over here and do a swap. It also has a 6cyl but the
the 74 had a v8 so I can swap all that too.
    The fun begins

Seems pricey for beaters at a junkyard.
I paid $200 for one barely running just for the
bumper swap parts, rotted floors were
    free.

I grabbed what I wanted and sent it to
    the graveyard.

these are not in the junkyard. the 70 is being driven now and the other 2 have
been parked for several years next to the houses. I am hoping to get with the
guy at the yard and see what he would take for the cars as a whole, there
are several up there that are for the most part complete. But it is heavy
under brush now. winter would have been best to get these but beggers
    cant be choisers.

There was a time when I could pick up complete cars for less than $100. JUst like everything else, prices are climbing.

The 70 is parked in the driveway

A closer inspection reviled a little more work than what
i saw the other day, Got to look it over in the daylight this time.
There is a hole in the gas tank in
the front driver side. Only noticed it since it is parked down hill. found only one rust through in the drivers side and what looks like a gouge in the door from
a hit, I split the metal on the door. The door hinges are real tight almost no play
in either side. Have found only surface rust under the seats so far,but you never
    know what you will find.
Here is a picture he took before he went black primer.

I have the gas tank from the 77 still in the car. I hope to cut the floors out tomarrow after work then take the rear end out and scrap the rest Monday or Tuesday If everything goes as planned.

If you decide to part it out I can use some parts. lol

I got looking into the gas tank mounting and the 1970 is mounted through the trunk, not
mounted under the trunk/frame. Which means i either repair what i have or hope i can
find one up in tellico. I found the leak and it looks like thay tried to patch it before.
There is 1/4 tank left in it so by tomorrow it will be on Empty. the 6cyl seems to run strong and it is in need of an allignment and tires. It has a nice set of western type
4 lug wheels on it. Ya need to stop by and look at it before I start rebuilding it.
I think I will rebuild both the 70 and pick out the best 73 car. Or maybe rebuild the
grabber since it will be the best value. I am hoping to hear from the guy with the
yellow 73 soon. The other 73 for 700 is still avilable and i am going to try to talk him
down to 400. I will soon have to put a sign in the yard that says maverick graveyard.
