Since i've been workin at Genentech in South San Francisco Ca, ive been seeing mavericks at the parking lot that i usually park my daily driver car. everyday that i go to work, mavericks grew into me of liking it and thought its a nice looking car, it was the Grabber version of maverick that really got my attention because of the sporty look of a small size 2 door classic sports car (IMO) and its because its a Ford :yup:.

So in January 10 2009, i decided to buy me a maverick of my own. I drove 400 miles total from San Francisco to Fresno CA to pick up my mavey and drove 2 cars back home. It took long 9 hours round trip, started to head out at 2100 hours and arive back 0600 next day.

I bought a Clean title 1973 2 door Coupe White LDO maverick :dancing:. She came with a V8 302 2V with a column 3 speed shifter C4, 8 inch rear axle. She's equipped with Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Manual Brake system, Drum Brakes on all 4 wheels. The Rims are Unknown to me but someone mentioned that the wheels are classic american wheels.

Complete Light tan interior with separate bucket seats in the front. only the driver seat has normal torn

The original milage she has is unknown because the previous owner had told me that the milage meter has probably gone over the counter. She has no Rust except minor surface rust at some places but she do have minor dents at usual places.

heres her current picstures of how she looks.... right beside her is her sister Naomi 1975 JDM TA22 Toyota Celica Coupe.

My goal for her is to build her as a street machine . I am just planning on doing mild mods on the motor set up, just enough juice to make me happy on the street night life . Im planning to take out her automatic tranny and convert her to a standard/stick shift/manual tranny for better man and machine connectivity. since im really an import tuner guy, id like to give her the street racer look or known as the "ricer" look :D.

Heres some pictures that ive found that got my attention and gave me sort of an idea of how id like for her look like someday... the black one is my 1st choice and the white one is my 2nd choice.

Lmao:rofl2:. yeah, my maverick is actually longer and bigger than my celica. if you look at the wheels of both cars from the rear view pic, the maverick is actually 2-3 foot longer. mavericks are actually huge for me:rofl:

I worked on my car today. Sanded that rear tail light panel and primered it flat black with couple lairs, i ofcourse took out the rear bumper and the tail lights, masked up the parts that i didnt want to get painted prior sanding and painting. i like this look, gives sporty image in the rear like a mustang.

I also attempted to fix my tail light issue by replacing the rear half harness of the mavey, still having issue with it :(.... when i apply hazards on, the rear light blinks simunltaneously like a police but in slow motion... :hmmm: i think i need to replace the whole harness of the mavey since its all spliced up from its previous owners.

the wrong flasher will cause it blink slowly. if the fronts are not flashing that could cause it also.

I hate to say it but thats not the Ricer look, they have a lowered probably tuned suspension with a chin spoiler, infact several people on the forums have done similar looks to their cars...
If we look up Ricer in the dictionary this is what we find

    "RICER"
    Definition:

    RICER: "Rye'sir"; noun
    1. Term applied to those in the import tuning scene, often derisively, due to ongoing biases against FWD drivetrains and poorly modified import vehicles.

Used extensively by individuals who are under the impression that Mustang GTs ship with a factory supercharger (only the SVT Cobra does, and only since 2003) or that twin-turbo Supras ship with a supercharger.
    2. any person who adds downforce to the rear end of a front wheel drive car in order to achive quicker acceleration
    3. Anyone (usually under 25) who drives a fwd 4 cylinder and thinks that stickers add horsepower.
    4. Person who has little to no respect for muscle cars but can respect imports that can't even break the tires loose.
    5. A person, usually in their teens, who takes imports, usually from Asia, and puts all kinds of "modifications" on it. In actuallity, they are just making it look faster.
    RICE: (An Anagram Definition)
    Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements

Persons excluded from being called a ricer are:
    1. People that buy import cars that have a rear wheel drive train.
    2. People that do modifications to the body AND drivetrain.
    3. People who buy cars that are already supercharged or turbocharged are excluded. Examples: Toyota Supras.

a weak battery or an alternator that isnt all that good will also do the same thing from lack of voltage

Check the grounds on all the lights. Mavericks are known for having ground issues when they get older.
