This might have been answered already and I am sure if there is a way to do you already would have but:
is there any way to make threads more than 1 year old automatically lock themselves and can only be viewed?

We go through this a lot when new members bring up old post.

    Just wondering :)

I've got mixed emotions on this. Newbies could have legitimate questions that arise from their research of old posts. Can it be added to the rules for newbies to start a new thread rather revive one older than one year.

I thought John was getting old age to go with his crankiness. :rofl2:

    Love ya, John.:Handshake:thumbs2:

No. I would like to have the option to warn a user that they are replying to a very old post. I want to allow people to update old threads with new info.

    I've had a few
I don't really have a problem with it if they have a valid reason for bringing the old thread back. If someone uses the search and finds a thread pertaining to the problem they are having, and have further questions about the replies, I don't have a problem with that. It dosen't make sense to yell at people to use the search and then get mad at them when they do use it and bring an old thread back up. On the flip side, someone bringing a thread back up to answer someone's question that was asked 5 years ago is a different story.

I think posts in the for sale section should automatically be deleted after like a month of inactivity, and if the person who started the thread wants to keep it going longer then a month, leave it up to them to bump it back up ever so often. I still occasionally get people asking me about things I had for sale, in 2006.
