I just got back from picking up the parts car that was sold on Ebay last Sunday. About 90 miles round trip. Saw it from a post that Craig did on the parts board. I had to beat out a Mustang guy that was after the Magnum rims. Anyway, the body is toast but I was hopeful that the brakes were not too rusted up and the hood trim was decent. All the glass is good and I will be tucking them away for spare parts. I'm happy to say that all the bright work is VERY good and the front hood trim is perfect! All window and drip edge mouldings are super nice, but as usual the boomerangs do have some pitting. Brakes look pretty darn good too, and as a bonus when I popped the trunk, there is the C4 that was mounted to the 250-6 engine! Actually there is a bunch of parts back there like distributors, lights, pulleys and air cleaner. Have to go through it all. Rear axle is stock 5 lug 2.79:1, nice Ford AM/FM. Doesn't look like the dash is molested at all, and the arm rests and trim cards should be OK. Oh yea, the rims are in better shape then I hoped, but the fronts do have a little curb finding that will need to be straightened out to make them perfect. Time to get to work!
I am proud.....proud to eat a free steak dinner. Seriously....I am glad somebody got it. It was just too good of a deal to see it go to waste. If I was closer...it would have been mine.
Was that really you? When I picked up the car today, the guy told me that the other bidder in the auction was only after the rims and that he emailed the seller asking if he would just ship him the rims if he won and junk the rest of the car. I figured it had to be a Mustang guy! OK - now I remember, you were after the 5 lug stuff but it went too high. Well, at least I saved some of the stuff from the crusher if the Mustang guy would have won.
