If we are talking Maverick: No such thing as a 1978 Maverick (at least in the USA).

1977 Maverick Panels. Not really correct...but they will "fit". Better than nothing....but there are some differences.

Interesting. Are the same differences present on '74 panels? Is it a tray vs. glovebox dash thing or something else? The only difference I saw between my '71 kick panels and the '74 ones I installed later were the speaker grilles, but maybe I wasn't that observant.

there is a set on craigslist i found through a link off this site. price was right. good shape. but i have the pkg tray. and no glove box would make it hard to hide an incorrect fit. they where discribed as 77-78

If you want kick panels for a 71 email me I have a set. If you wanted to use the 74-77 than you really have to cut a lot of plastic to modify. I would not recommend that route.

I am so confused. Maybe the kick panels I got out of that '74 weren't original... One of the doors wasn't.

74-77 dash uses a clove box. 70-73 uses the lower tray and there is no clove box. The kick panels for the earlier ones have a slot for the tray. Here is some pic of the two different kick panels. Hope this help.

1976-1977 driver's side is different. It is completely flat in order to fit behind the parking brake pedal.

Thanks for the pics. In that case I have '74-'75 panels. The only difference is that extra piece on the early ones above the tray, and on mine that area's covered by the vents anyway. That's why I didn't remember the difference...

Now that clears it up! Forgot about that parking brake pedal, all the other ones have a handle.

If you decide to no go with these kick panels, can you send me the link?

Yeah, I was wrong. Looked at my kick panels this morning and they're exactly like the ones in mike75mav's pic of the '70-'73 ones, except they have speaker grilles. I thought the speaker grille kick panels were only on '74 up cars... So maybe my parts donor was an early '74 with leftover '73 parts, or maybe it just didn't have its original kick panels. Were the '70-'73 panels available with speaker grilles?

...Sorry if I'm jacking the thread, I don't mean to. All this talk just got me really curious because it conflicted with things I thought I knew.

I have kick panels from early 73 LDO Comet that have speaker grilles.

...And the mystery is solved. My '74 parts donor must have just had older kick panels. Interesting that they fit the glovebox dash. I wonder why they bothered to change them.
