Will c4 kickdown linkage hook to A Edelbrock 600 with the ford linkage Edelbrock offers to bolt on the 600? Thanks I've got tons of questions
Yes it will. I did have a problem with the "rod" rubbing on the cable bracket that mounts to the manifold. Nothing a little work with a drimmel and grinding wouldn't fix.
Craig, could you post a picture of it? What throttle bracket did you use? Did you get the adapter brackets from Edelbrock?
I installed that set up (or tried to) on a friends car. He had tall valve covers and the linkage stuck out too far to use. Would not work.
If you can't get the Edelbrock parts to work, Lokar makes a cable that does work - just be sure to get the brackets with it.
Here are some pictures, Nick. I will add: The kickdown still rubs a little. Ideally....I would suggest cutting off the top of the factory bracket and moving it over about an inch or so...then reweld it back on, so that the accelorator cable would even be farther away from the carb and more it over the valve cover. This was a factory bracket off of a 302 in a Maverick
Craig, I just put a 4bbl Edelbrock performer intake and carb on Spookie and could not put the stock bracket on like that. I tried!!!!!!! I had to put the bracket that was made for a ford small block that I bought extra and bend everything up. It goes higher and further out over the valve cover. You can check it out at Carlise. It has plenty of clearance for the kickdown linkage but it is right up against my power brake bracket.
Mine would have cleared the bracket too if I had your set-up. The problem was it would have crossed the kickdown linkage with just the bracket you put on. Did you add on the kickdown/accelerator bracket that supposed to be needed?
Looks like it needs a spring to keep it off the bracket. Call Edelbrock and ask them to fix it - or at least how to.
