My tranny was rebuilt about 6 months ago and the kickdown was never there to begin with and they did not install one after the rebuild. My question is what do I need to do to install one. It is a c4 with a transgo shift kit. Can you just install the kickdown or is there some adjustments that need to be made? Thanks.

Never had one on my 77 and never had a problem. Put it together back in 99 and its still running just fine. I was under the impression that it just downshifts the trans when you stomp on it. Can do the same thing with the shift lever.

I just hear people saying im going to ruin my tans. I'd rather install a kickdown than new trans. Just was wondering what mods or adjustments would have to be made. Or is it just a bolt on?

If you are lazy about shifting then use the kick-down linkage.
If you are shift-happy it is easy to get away without it.
The "kick-down" modulates (changes) the governor, modulator and boost valve pressures as the throttle is fed to the engine. It is more than just a downshift valve.
