Today, I went to the last show for this year before winter sets in. It was a chilly 28 degrees when I left home this morning and it really didn't get much out of the upper 30's. Tree color was at peak and it made for a nice setting in the Oxford park. I won in my stock 68-72 class and received a nice trophy. But the judges had problems calculating who won the 12 "best of" trophies (best paint, interior, engine, best of show stock and modified, ect), so rather than make everyone wait another hour in the freezing cold, they said they would mail them to the winners ....... ....... so we will see, maybe there will be a surprise in the mail this week ......... One nice touch they had was local high school girls working as car hops. You filled out a menu and they would run around to all the food vendors and get your grub ....... on a day like today, it was a lot of hot chocolate ....
From the pics I have seen it was a well deserved win. Eric, can't you get them to sweep the streets, looks a little cluttered, give them girls leaf blowers, that ought to be interesting on skates. JK
Looks that way from those pics - but no - more cars arrived later. I was one of the early arrivals (8am) and I took the pictures before most of the cars arrived. It was about a 100 car show by the time the judging started at 11am. If the weather had been warmer this should have been about a 200 car show. My camara battery died (cold maybe?) so I didn't get any pictures of later on. Cars filled the streets first and then started parking on the grass. Here is a picture from down another street and a really nice Camero and AMX that were in my class.
Nice!! You guys are brave, most of our shows were done last weekend. Chilly day, but well worth it in the end. and well deserved!
Remember when I said they needed time to calculate judging sheets to see who won the big awards? Well, look what came in the mail today ....... BEST OF SHOW - SEDAN
