Is anybody here using a 5.0 from a late 90's Ford Explorer? I'm particularly interested in going carbed with this engine. Does anybody have a parts list or a website detailing the install?

    Thanks

not much to it. replace the intake and distributor, aftermarket electric fuel pump seems to be the simple fix...
Aside from that, a lot of the factory parts should work; serpentine, accessories (modified for AC and power steering, some rewiring for the alt). Motor mounts would be from a V8 Maverick or Comet, exhaust depends on the exact model of the heads. You may be able to use the factory Explorer

The pulleys and balancer are explorer specific due to the fact that explorer is shorter from radiator to firewall. it would be easier to change everything from long-block out. I put one in a Ranger and used all factory Explorer pulleys brackets and had to make my own idler since I don't have PS or AC, then I measured needed belt length and went to a parts house with measurement and they found one that would work. to use the Explorer setup you would also need the alternator and associated brackets. if you ran PS but not AC that too could present problems since they share brackets. just tear it down to long-block and start over using parts you know will fit.
