I'm at the parking brake install phase and I need to know where the late model ('76-'77) parking brake cable goes through the firewall / floor; does anyone have a photo of where it routes out? I found RThomas's factory drawing ( http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/diagrams/untitled193.gif ) which seems to indicate it goes through the floor but I'm not sure where exactly since my firewall and floor have been reworked a fair bit. The '76-'77 years have the pedal mount e-brake bolted to the kick panel area so I assume the cable comes out through the upper floor / lower firewall somewhere inside the fender area. I know there is a pivot on the underside of the floor behind the frame rail extension but I'm not sure how it routes to it (under the torque box? through the torque box?) Anyone have good shot of it?
If the hole in the floor is in the same spot, as earlier cars, I can help you with that, but with all the other stuff, I've got no idea.
The earlier T-handle E-brake cables go through the firewall at a right angle around the base of the steering column; the later ones I think go over closer to where the hi-beam switch is (likely above it somewhere) since the pedal is bolted to the kick panel area - there's a big rubber doughnut thing integrated in the cable that butts up to the floor / firewall somewhere.... does your white car have the pedal e-brake or the T-handle? If it has the pedal it'll have the cable hole location I need...
IIRC, it goes through a grommeted hole above the hi-beam switch and exits out the back of the torque box under the floor (similar to the fuel line) and the end mounts to a bracket welded to the floor about the same fore/aft position as the trans cross member.
