In the annual 2005 issue of Muscle Car Review there is a article on Al Eckstrand (Lawman Performance Racing Team) The article has info on his early Chrysler days and then the Lawman Boss 429 cars one of which was crushed by a container of military documents. The second car was sold a couple of years ago at Barrett Jackson and is now owned by Pro Wrestler Bill Goldberg.

OK, so now the point of my posting. There is a picture of the Iwo Jima Monument in Washington, D.C. with 2 Pinto's and 2 Maverick's and the Team. The article claims it is the only time a vehicle of any sort has been allowed on the monument. The picture is from the early 70's and appears that the Pinto's and one Maverick may have been Sprint's. The Maverick on the left doesn't have sport mirrors and the lower paint is different.

Wish I had a scanner to post the picture.

Here is the picture, the article says this is the first time this picture has been published outside a military document.

The color sceme looks like a Holman-Moody Maverick I've seen in articles...I think Lawman toured Vietnam with those 429's and ran them on airstrips for the troops...that is probably what earned him the privelege.

    Thx for sharing that Alan:tiphat:

    Very cool picture.

I think Rick is correct about them touring with Lawman boss 429. I watched something about it a month or 2 ago on the Discovery channel I think. Goldberg owns it now. That is one bad ass car.

Yes there was 2 - Supercharged Boss 429 cars. One was accidentally crushed during transport by a container of military documents. The other survived and was actually found and restored by Al Eckstrand. It ran through Barrett Jackson and now resides in the Bill Goldberg collection. There is an article on the Goldberg collection in the same issue with this picture.
