Well I rewired the back end and it did not fix my problem.
I have turn signal and brake lights on the rear but no running lights. On the front the headlights work (high beam only). The side markers work. The turn signals work but no low beams and no running lights.

Now hear is a wierd bit. There are running lights above the bumper and turn signals under the bumper? Both houseings take a double filiment bulb. This is a 71 Grabber. The pictures in the front of the Chilton manual show only the lights below the bumper for 70-72. Have I got a grill from a later year? There are wiring plugs for both sets of lights.

If anyone can make sense of this please HELP.

    Thanks JD

For 71 and 72 the grill lights were considered Sport lights. They tied the running and turn signal filliments together so they both lit up when ever the parking lights and the dash mounted switch was on. Power to the sport lights ran through a relay mounted behind the drivers kick panel. The relay was operated by the switch mounted under the dash. Starting in 73 the lights under the bumper were discontinued so the grill lights became the running and turn signals.

    Thanks again for your help.
Can you tell me exactky where the relay is and what it looks like?
Can I delete the lights under the bumper?
I have tried unpuging both sets one at a time and it did not help but one less set of lights might be one less problem.

I removed my lamps that were under the bumper and turned my Sport Lamps into park / turn lamps. Just split the wiring coming out of the rear of the grill lamps. Connect the bright filament to the old turn signal wires from the lights that were under the bumper and connect the dim filiment to the park lamp circuit.

Remove the drivers kick panel. You will see a bolt head going through a small metal square. That square is part of the bracket that is attached to the relay. The relay is kinda hidden behind the metal. Just take out the bolt and the bracket and relay will lift right out. These relays were on original 71 or 72 Grabbers only. If the grill lights were added by someone, then chances are it wont be there.
