I came across this welder today. It is used. This will be my first welder and attempted at welding. What do I look for to make sure it has not been abused or to keep from getting ripped off?

For me I would just make sure it is in good working order. Check the torch end and the line to make sure everything looks good and isn't kinked or damaged. I would try it out first if at all possible.

Try welding something before you buy it. I have one that looks brand new and it gave out.. No one will even attempt to work on it either.. I was told by a welder repair shop that they are disposible because of the cost of repairs..

I have had mine for a while now.. Been under the bench though. It might have worked for about a year when it gave up.. That was maybe 4 to 5 years ago.. Can't get myself to toss it.

Edit: Actually I think mine is a 100 HD or something like that. I still say try it before you buy it if you can.

Hopefully they will let me try it out first. It's at a pawn shop. Surely they tried it out when whomever pawned it. We will see. Thanks
