This question is concerning a body feature, not discussing cams or "glass packs", so I think it goes in this "Cosmetic" forum lol . Altho I DO like glass packs :).

How much do you guys find that the rear fender lips need to be rolled? From one end to the other.. Do you leave the ends? If so, about how much end?

ive only ever needed to roll the top of the wheel well... just enough that it doesnt cut the side wall... if you arent worried about your paint and you tire is close enough you can just use a baseball bat pressed against the tire to roll them... anywhere that the bat doesnt reach is probably safe depending on how stiff your suspension is... my 89 lx coupes rear tire rides around with the tire too close to even put your fingers in between the wheel well and the tire... but its more like a sled :thumbs2:... all i did was roll the top so even when it does hit it kinda just squeeks because its flat surface onto side wall

    hope that helps

The bat idea might work but I am on jack stands at the moment and doing this before I spray the primer. I was going to use the roller tool but that isn't in my budget at the moment and I need to move forward.
I already started "caressing it ever so strongly with a hammer" lol. I am using a ball peen and it is actually looking pretty good. I just started wondering how far around I needed to go. I did take the hide off of a new tire once and it was at the top that did it. I was remenecing it yesterday as I was folding that area over . I am thinking from body line to body line, but don't want to be short and have to mess with it after it's painted.

body line to body line will be perfect... all you really have to do is get the lip to the point where it is at a 90 degree angle with the ground and your tires will be saved :thumbs2:... ive cut the sides of brand new tires too so i feel your pain

I did mine body line to body line and there is plenty of clearance, could've probably gotten away with less. Takes some serious hammering to move that sheet metal in when you're laying on your back.,

    Thanks.
Wasn't too bad with the size ball peen I used.
No outside visable dings that I can see. It's got the inside wheel well sheet so that helped keep the blows to the inside. After kissing it with over 1k strikes, it's flat and smooth. I think the trick was having a good size peen.

    And pictures of your progress???

    :ttiwwp:

I have several hammers laying around. Will an 8-pound sledge do the trick?

lol.. DO NOT use a sledge :90:

I will get some pics in a few minutes and see what size peen I was using. Like I said, the peen is the key.

I was just joking about the sledge.

I have 2 or 4 different sized ball-peens. Depends on if they are in storage or in the garage. Most likely storage...

EDIT--Make that ZERO hammers. They are ALL in storage...except a 4 lb sledge and a carpenter hammer.

Are you using any heel or anything on the front side, or just hammering from the inside only?

Inside only. There is a space between the outside and the wheel well so a shoe does nothing. I bought some and not using them . I couldn't see any #s anymore on the peen. I've had it for like 15 yrs. Pics are loading.

I tried an aluminum baseball bat but the results were nasty.

As you can tell by the second picture...I REALLY need to roll the lips!!! There probably isn't 500 miles on these wheels.

That sucks. I feel that even with us rolling them they will still touch and no telling what could happen..

The spot you see is where a dobber was, it managed to get in my eyes.

This last pic is a close up and you can see that my fender is not pushed out like I have seen on some. I havn't sanded these areas yet since I was needing to do the roll.

Man, that is a huge hammer...None of mine are anywhere near that size.

I like those foglights behind your dodge grille! :thumbs2:
