Finally spared a few moments to work on the Mav. So here is the roughed in drivers side engine bay plate. I am going for a totally smooth engine bay, so these should do the trick. They will be welded in and all wiring will be hidden behind them. Battery will go in the trunk. Props to the Miles brothers' dad for the idea
Well, I got the panels welded in, I just have to seal the seams good and do some smoothing and I will be happy with them. Here are some crappy phone pics, but I will get some good high res ones after I finish them up. i start the shock tower mods as soon as I can get a smaller torch tip. Stay tuned.
Stock; how are you going to finish off the engine compartment? Are you going to put aluminum polished panels or paint? Looks great!
Im just going to paint it black. I put the panels in to smooth out a rough, post-crash engine bay. (I cut the apron off a donor car and welded it in, but didnt like the way the welds looked) This will also allow me to hide all my wiring. Hopefully I havent affected the crumple zone too much, but the steel is relatively thin 1/8".
Man that will look nice. with an engine bay that smooth I would think about painting it body color, make it shine.
Thanks for the comments. I may end up painting the bay body color, but I have to figure ot if the Eastwood rust encapsulator is compatible with my primer and topcoats first. If its not, itll stay black under the hood
