Found a guy that has fiberglass moulds for a Comet GT hood scoop and bought one :bananaman :drink: :D

He has all kinds of fenderflares and even complete willys body's (wider than original).

    See: http://alltplast.net/

This photo shows how cool Iceland really can be:rolleyes: :

Changed the picture, more appropriate to have a picture of a Nissan Patrol alias Ford Maverick ;)

Test fitting the scoop. I have seen several posts saying that it should be 1 7/8 from the back edge of the hood, this is how it looks.

That looks like the reproduction Cougar Eliminator scoop. Very same basic scoop as the Comet GT (has one or two relocateable studs)

Unfortunately those repop scoops have threaded stock (not studs) molded into the fiberglass in the wrong positions. Meaning that cars with factory hood scoops have to drill new holes.

Also those scoops haven't any strength. With the open fronts there is constant wind lifting on the front and it eventually cracks and fails. I know of several very unhappy guys with Eliminator clones.

    Thanks for the tips.

I think that the Comet GT scoop is actually the same scoop as the eliminator scoop C9GB 16056-C

I ordered the scoop without the studs and will install them my self using stainless steel material. I will also reinforce the scoop if I think it's necessary.

I found a photo on the net of the underside of a original GT hood I plan to install the studs in similar places.

I also plan to make the scoop functional, because my air cleaner is rubbing the hood.

Did some work on the scoop today drilled some holes in the hood and began fastening the studs to the scoop.
