Hey it is Babbit, I am wondering if you guys could keep a heads up for this mav. VIN is 2F91L227280 It was my fathers he bought it new for $2450.00 in 1972.
It was blue, standard two door sedan. It was bought and traded in Ohio, Ottawa county.

My dad after two years of college didn't know what he had wanted to do after graduation. He took a vacation from college from 1972 to 1977. He decided to be a teacher. He drove that car all over the usa, canada, and mexico. With his second and last dog. It never broke down, if it was time for an oil change he had it serviced.

Now dad is 56 and ill. I really wish to either own or have my dad see it again any help would be awesome.

Some states, not all, allow you to track a vehicle's history within that state if you know the VIN number.
You might check Ohio for that option.
If it traveled out of state, you will have to contact that state, and so on, to try and trace it's movement.
Florida will give you a complete trace of a car with a VIN, however, I know that doesn't help you.
    Good luck
    Dave

I admire your attempt, but agree it will be near impossible to find that car again. I said near impossible.........So keep faith. Good Luck and I hope your dad hangs in there. I assume your dad is terminally ill? I so if it's not to personal could you fill us in here. You will get several members that would be willing to pray. My wife and I will pray for yourdad. What is his name?

If you know a cop, they can run the V.I.N. and see who it is currently registered to, or who it was last registered to and when. That is about your only hope. However, that is illegal in most states, so you have to find one willing to bend the rules a little. This is how I found out, down to a name and address, where my dad's old '71 Comet GT is now.

All I know is that by the VIN you posted is that it was built in Detroit, Michigan (detroit Mavericks are few and far between), and the car had a 250 straight 6 engine.

Hi everybody, His name Jon. He has alot of multiple illness, he has had a stroke, He has large clacium deposits in his neck shaped similar to spikes. His head side to side movement is painful and limited. He has fibromialgia (probably spelled it wrong). A kidney stone that is thankfully not getting any larger. He has many neurological things wrong. On a lot of pain meds, and junk like that. He can walk with the assistance of a walker. I think soon he will be in a wheel chair. Most doctors say they can't do much but try to keep in as little pain as possible.

This is not a lie, it sucks they wouldn't say that it is terminal they dance around it. All this and he is only 56 looks 10 15 years older. But if I go by what little the doctors say, Time is something I have.

Babbit is a nick name my sister gave me when she was in high school. It is a long story, probably longer than what I have written so far. Thank you for all the advice and prayers. I will find, what I find is another story but I won't give up.

    Thanks
    Ben "Babbit" Boles

What about running something like Carfax? I agree too that the Cop idea is a good one.

you may have already found this link but here it is just in case it helps, http://www.dps.state.oh.us/atps/if it is still in ohio the vin or old title # should show it here although it won't give you current owner info it is a start, i believe in ohio these records are open to the public through the bmv,
having some of the same problems as your dad at the same age i can sympathize with him, it really is not any fun getting so old while you while still so young,
hope you find the car, i have a blue 76 4 door that has been in ohio all it's life, and recently sold a 61 falcon that also remained around ohio all it's life so it is possible it may still be around ohio somewhere,
good luck with the car and your dad

The title information available from this web page is obtained from Ohio county title offices. Title information may not exist in the system and on this web page for titles issued prior to March 1993, because all Ohio county offices were not automated until March 1993. The information contained on this web page reports only detailed information for titles issued in the State of Ohio.

Query failed to retrieve any records for 2F91L227280

Sorry didn't work. I agree with the cop part, hope ya know someone. Good luck, keep us posted!

Thanks for all the help so far.

I am not much closer I have checked the links so far they haven't panned out. I found the same thing with the ohio bmv title search. Next week I am going to start make some calls on some very thin leads I have but I wil not give up.

That means the car hasn't been registered in a very long time. My '72 2 door was the same way when the cop ran the VIN, they couldn't find any record of it, period... It had been off the road since 1989 I believe. Either your car has met the crusher, or it has been sitting somewhere unregistered for a long time...
