No rust but a few very small dents. Maybe for $1,000?

If you do all the body work your self and they just spray the car then can get it around 500-1000. If they are doing the body work and paint then 3000+. You want an old school painter and they aren't the cheapest.

We have a painter here in Deland , Florida that wouldn't DREAM of painting a car that ANYONE ELSE did the body work for .. He does it ALL .. and when it's PERFECT as far as HE is concerned , he will block sand , primer , block sand AGAIN, finally Wet Sand, and THEN when he's satisfied with the metal he will apply the paint, wet sand again , then apply the Clear . There's a lot of " buffing" performed before the clear goes on also. So far Steve Thornbrough has painted five cars and each one is like a Mirror ! I'm convinced that Quality Work is NEVER Cheap !!

:rofl2:I worked in a body shop for years and did body work and painting for many more years. A good body man does not paint a car some one else has worked on. The paint job is only as good as the body work, sanding and priming that is underneath. People fail to say when the paint peals off and the bondo cracks and falls out that they were the one that did the work. They just say so and so did it.

$1000 might just be enough to cover paint and supplies. Ask me how I know...:nailbiting:

If all you want to spend is $1000.....Maaco is probably your only choice.

As Craig said, do the body work yourself. Strip off all the chrome and trim you can. Mask everything you can, particularly weather-stripping that is exposed. Do a thorough final wet sand of the car and take it to Maaco for paint and clear coat.

Wipe the car down with wax and grease remover before sanding or you will be pushing wax into the old paint...paint don't stick to wax

Is all of the body work done and you just want it painted? I know someone that might be able to help you out. He is a friend of mine that painted my truck plain ol' white and I am happy with his work. I've also seen a couple other vehicles he has painted and they were also happy with his work. Maaco can do a good paint job, but you have to make sure that everything is removed, taped off/masked, prepped and ready for them to paint because that is where they make their money.
