i read where painting the inside of the tail light buckets improve...brightness. so far it has been suggested to paint them... ...white... ...chrome... i have done the chrome with good results. are there any more suggestions for colors or textures? ...:Handshake...
Aluminum foil works great... j/k I've heard that the chrome is better than the white. A guy I know used a high metallic silver and it worked great. Not sure how much better it would be than the chrome, as I havent seen them side by side
I'm interested in this too. I was planning on spraying mine white, but if chrome works better, I'll go that direction. You are talking about the wanna-be chrome SPRAY PAINT, right? Getting them chromed for real takes the expense to a new level.
Ive done it with sport lamps with good results, havent tried it on tail lights yet. I just used a good chrome spray paint for bumpers from my local advance auto
Frank, I used the "faux chrome" paint for my tails and my side marker lights. Seems to work ok. Also used it for the bezel on my cluster.
Painting tail light buckets: Hi Gold: I painted three Comet , and Three Maverick buckets FLAT WHITE PAINT and got very good results . I also used the hi intensity bulbs and cleaned the inner and outer areas of the lenses themselves. It makes a dramatic difference in the visibility . I had painted a set "silver" or chrome before and when I repainted the sets WHITE ,I installed both lenses and turned on the lights and checked it out in the dark and the difference in color and visibility is quite evident . WHITE is the color if you want more brightness. At least thats "my" take on this . Wish you success.Cometized
i second chip's opinion. also, flat white rather than gloss paint seems to be the way to go. i used to know the explanation for that, but seem to have forgotten
I use L.E.D bulbs alot easier than painting. Just rembemer to use a elctronic flasher, For those that dont know (at least on my 75) the flasher for the T/S is P.I.A to get to.
i got lucky mine just hangs it was like that when i got the car. the problem i hear with using LED's is that they don't diffuse the light, and all you see is a lit up dot.
