Hi, this is my first thread here. I just bought a 77 Mav, and the steering is atrociously loose. it has powersteering, front discs, and a 250 6 w/3spd auto. but yeah, how can I tighten up the steering??? I also wanna swap the bumpers, and put a 302 w/t5 in it, and the 9 inch rear with disc brakes.... but that will be later

If you wanna change the engine, dont forget the shocks (koni shocks is a good choice) and better tires too... a 302 with a T5 will go very fast !

yeah, i know, i wanna go with bilstein monotube gas shocks (inverted). my last car handled really well, so if this one drives like a boat i am gonna cry

I thought my steering was really lose but it turned out to be loose wheel bearings. Check and make sure the nut that holds the bearings in (ya im a retard that cant think of its name) is torqed down properly (cant remember how many pounds off top of my head right now). Anyways cleared my loose steering problem right up.

My steering is hella loose--is the idler arm/pitman arm, center link bushings. Likely yours could be bad also.
