anyone ever seen a Mav with rear window louvers...it's just one of those that always popped up in a used mav classified...but the ad had no pic. Just think, you could make a pseudo 'Cuda AAR Maverick A.P. Out
Click on the link (my restoration photos) in my signature and you'll see a set of original Maverick louvers. I think it's in one of the last photos. The louvers are now on the car permanently. The company that made them is out of business but there are still a few sets floating around out there. (I went back and placed it on here.)
Hey Ray, do the clips that hold the louver on go under the chrome strips? If so, do you have to remove the chrome? I just picked up a set over the weekend. Thanks. Russ
Louver attachment Russ, If your set is like the set I have, the clips slide under the chrome and rubber gasket and hook on the edge of the glass themselves. The gasket holds them in place. When I removed the set I have from the car they were on, I just gently placed a putty knife beside them on the car and lifted up till the clip came free. No chrome removal required. I would figure they could be put on the same way. It only required lifting the gasket about 1/8" at the most. Hope this helps you out. Rays set may be the same or not, not sure. The company that manufactured the set I have was South Co. out of New Jersey. I can't find anymore info on them than that. Allen Small
I looked at Rays picts. and mine look the same. I got them off of the mav that was on e-bay a few weeks ago(blue with yellow fenders) The guy bought the car for the engine and trans, and didn't want the louvers so I bought them off of him for $40.00 I had a trip planned in his area and with a little help from a friend I managed to pick them up without shipping Just one more thing to add to the collection of "differant" Maverick stuff.
I think most of us are destined to never have a set of Maverick Louvers ... I would like a set of my Yellow car ... Congrats on the find ...
I was quite surprised that no-one else contacted the buyer about them. Here's a pic from the ebay ad Onece I get them cleaned up a little I'll get them on the may car.
I remember that guy was selling that car on ebay. Remember guys, we talked about that car a while ago?
