Hello!!!!! to all the great people on this site.I would like to know if there are any Comet/Mav heads in the Kansas area or close to Lawrence. I am really glad to find a place to be able to find and look at others cars while am still trying to get mine into shape.O sorry to switch the Comet and Mac but I just think since I own a Comet it should come first. I have been trying to pick as many brains as posable and so far it is working pretty good. my wife is getting a little hacked at me for spending a little to much time looking things up.I will try and get some pic of the work in progress as soon as I can.She is in need of work as far as the body goes but no rust and only 54000 on the ticker.302/w ps/and air but I think I going to leave the air off not sure yet on that though, the original comp felt the need to put some pretty good holes in it's self.I do plan on getting a GT hood for it and put some buckets in her.I would also like to put the shifter on the floor but as of yet have not fond shifter linkage and shifter or the console that goes around it if there is one.So if someone could let me know what yaer to look at for the console that would be very helpful. The other thing I would like to know is what the widest rear wheels I can go and please someone tell me the back space on the front and rear is.If you are on yahoo and would like to chat im me at Jmon2271@yahoo.com. Thats really all I have for now so all you Mav and Comet folk out there keep it going. Thanks from the guy lost in OZ
Welcome to the board! Few people on here love 4 doors too. Some weird kid named elliot loves them! (just giving ya hard time elliot) Glad ya here. Got any pics by chance? spec?
Howdy. There were no floor shifter with consoles for these cars. You could get a floor shifter though. It was pretty much like the mustang. You can easily adapt the early mustang stuff to these cars including a console Early Granada consoles and floor shifters work great too. As far as wheels, in the rear about 4" of backspacing is as much as you can go without rubbing issues. Since most run narrower rims on the front, I've not heard of any problems with backspacing unless you want to go with these later model type wheels that probably start at around 5" of backspacing.
thanks for the info Mavaholic.I think I might try to make one myself a friend of mine is a wiz with wood and fiberglass.
